To help you start or expand your business , we have separated the main types of prints for t-shirts that you can easily make in your own home, with little investment. Follow!

Types of T-shirt prints

Sublimation

In high school chemistry classes, we learned that sublimation is the term used to refer to a process in which a substance goes directly from a solid to a gaseous state, without first becoming a liquid.

In the sublimation print, this is exactly what happens: the image of the print, which is solid, goes directly to the gaseous state and is absorbed by the fabric.

This technique has a low cost and excellent quality finish, leaving the print imperceptible to the touch. However, it is only recommended for t-shirts with most of its composition in polyester, in addition to not being able to be applied to dark fabrics.

Serigraphy or Silk Screen

One of the most traditional techniques, serigraphy allows the creation of several prints , with different colors and textures. Ideal for large quantities, serigraphy consists of printing on screens and can be applied to different fabrics, since it does not use heat.

As it has a relatively high cost and does not allow for many details, serigraphy is more recommended for large production volumes, where the focus is not on exclusivity.

rotary stamp

In this process, the engraving is done by means of patterns in metallic cylinders with microperforations, through which the ink passes to the fabric that will receive the print.

The prints are divided into shades of color, that is, each cylinder receives one. For this reason, rotary prints do not usually have more than three or four colors, in order not to raise production costs excessively.

Types of t-shirt prints – Transfer

This technique consists of transferring a resin (for light shirts) or a rubberized film (for dark items) to the fabric, using three types of special paper, depending on the desired result.

Despite not being a particularly cheap technique, mainly because it involves cutting and discarding excess material, the transfer has excellent final quality, especially when applied to darker materials, unlike the sublimation technique.

Widely used in 100% cotton pieces, this technique can also be applied to other fabrics, as long as they withstand the heat involved in the process.

Now that you know the types of prints for t-shirts, choose the ones that most interest you and start making a profit.
